Massimiliano Allegri was in Eindhoven this evening where he held the pre-match press conference alongside Urby Emanuelson. He started by talking about the risks that Milan face against a side that has already started its domestic campaign.
He said: "PSV already have three competetive games under their belts. We have played some important friendlies against some of the best teams in Europe but compared to them we are a little behind in terms of our fitness. We know it will be difficult, they are a very good team technically speaking but we know each other better compared to last season and that is an advantage for us. I still believe PSV are a dangerous side despite the fact they have lost some important players like van Bommel, Strootman, Maertens and Lens but they have a good youth academy and they have replaced those players well."
The rossoneri coach only has a few doubts about the starting eleven that will take to the pitch at the Philips Stadion tomorrow evening.
"My only doubts are the full back and the left side of midfield. Muntari is a little further ahead than Nocerino because he will be missing for the game in Verona on Saturday. At the back constant and Emanuelson are fighting for a starting place. Urby is in good shape both physically and psychologically after his loan spell in England. Balotelli is fully fit and the problem with his knee has gone. He can make the difference to this team."
Milan were unlucky with their draw and picked possibly the hardest team availbale. PSV stand top of the Eredivisie on full points after three games but that does not scare Allegri.
He added: "It is an important game because there is a difference between playing the Champions League and the Europa League. I am convinced that the lads will create the chances to go through to the group stages of the competition. I have a very competetive squad and Robinho and De Sciglio will return in midweek. We have to play a careful match, especially at the back. De Jong is a very important player for us and just when he was beginning to understand the Italian game he had that bad injury. For us he is a wonderful signing because he played so little last season."
